President's Message October 2006
By Devra Reeves
I would like to start by expressing appreciation to the County for re-striping 8 Rd.
and installing the bot dots. Driving home on those rainy, dark nights is no where near
as scary as it used to be. The County now plans on beginning work on improving the drainage
problems in the worst areas of 8 Rd.The first project will be at the C Rd. intersection.
Once the involved parties have agreed and signed off on the needed paperwork, work will begin.
There continues to be some discrepancy regarding the maintenance of the project once
completed and talks are continuing at this time. The project will require a detour during
the duration of the work. A definite plan for this is also still being considered.
The HARC Board supports a detour through the Community Center lot as this is the easiest and
cheapest. As the monies allocated for drainage will include providing the detour, we feel
the more spent on permanent improvements, the better. The additional areas planned for drainage
improvements are just above the C & 8 intersection. Also planned are sight-distance improvements
for 8 Rd above F. We will keep you informed as the plans progress. If you have any questions
regarding these issues, you can call me at 808-968-8403 or Laurie in the office at 808-966-9892.
The board is looking for additional board members for this coming term. You need only to be a
current member (paid dues) and have a willingness to donate your time and energy on fixing the
roads. If you are interested, please contact the office at the above number.

*** 8 Road Potholes! ***
Just a reminder to all (including myself) with the rain often times
comes road damage . Having been a recent victim of Pothole
Damage. Please be on the look out for them! There is a crop
of them between B and C makai. My understanding is the county is
trying to keep up with them but often times the material washes or just
breaks free with the next hard rain and of course wear and
tear.
Additionally!
Please, Please if you see a cone in a pothole leave it
there!
I know we all have places to be and all just take it easy out
there and remember to be the kind of neighbor you'd like to have.
I just hope the next time I'm stranded on the side of the road in
the dark with my flashers on someone stops. (Including the
policeman that drove by)
Your neighbor - Vershell
