Mark your calendar for April 7th, 2018.  A workshop on Little Fire Ants will be presented during the Hawaiian Acres Community Market.

Beginning at 12:30 p.m. until 1 p.m. a power point presentation will be given to help us understand the problem, along with, the treatment to help control this invasive species. Q&A will follow.

BIISC will also have a booth at the market to help identify specific ant species.  If, you are not sure that you have fire ants, bring a frozen sample of the ants in question.  Experts will be there to help you be sure of what the pest problem is and how to deal with it.

Hope to see you there.

Farmers Market Workshops and Demonstration Events 2018

The Hawaiian Acres Community Market, in conjunction with the Hawaiian Acres Community Center, will be sponsoring a series of informational and educational  workshops. We will be focusing on agricultural and sustainability issues to enhance the quality of life in our community.

Our first event will be at the Market on Saturday March 3rd.  This will be about Honey bees and their care using top bar hives.  If you are interested in becoming a beekeeper or already have bees this is a great opportunity to stop by and talk story, learn and share. We will be posting more about this soon.

Do you have a skill or talent that you wish to share with the community? Perhaps, seed saving, soap or candle making, composting and permaculture techniques are a few examples of topics to present.

Just let us know and we can explore how you can share your talent and expertise with all of us.
